Top 6 Reasons Not to Give Biden Any New AUMF, by David Swanson – Dandelion Salad
Now that the Biden Administration seems to be making strides via Executive Orders and legislation (due to Democratic Party control of the US House of Representatives and semi-control of the US Senate, we must put pressure on them to start putting forward effort to make peace rather than wage war. The time has come to end the perpetual wars being waged in the Middle East and to use diplomacy rather than continue waging them with no end in sight.
Furthermore, pressure must be put forth to strengthen Congress’s role in future foreign policy disputes while curtailing the ability of the executive branch to start future military activities. This article, written by David Swanson and posted to the Dandelion Salad blog gives excellent arguments in favor of this proposition. – rjc

Rick there is a problem with David’s very good statements. One, you have the Patriot Act that gives enormous power to the President. Second, there is The Monroe Doctrine “Americans pride themselves on new and unique ideas nations did not. They believe they are exceptional to other people and nations. They believe in liberating ideas such as freedom, equality, liberty, and justice for all…” In other words there is no acceptance of any other form of government by the US other than the one in the US.
Tough pill to swallow in order to understand the number of countries where a coup by the US within another country is acceptable, Wars in Vietnam (kill the commies), simply ignore the UN., never did find those WMDs in Iraq, Russia must have rigged the election (nothing said about the horrible methods used to cast a vote), China is at fault even though the US corporations moved to China almost 30 years ago and the list goes on. Here’s a link to the Monroe Doctrine for your visitors and Friends 🙂 http://projects.leadr.msu.edu/usforeignrelations/exhibits/show/monroe-doctrine-and-latin-amer/introduction-to-the-monroe-doc

Thank you for your insights and the link, Dennis. Many of us have problems with both the Patriot Act and American Exceptionalism that pre-date Trump and Obama. Getting rid of them unfortunatley seems to be far easier said than done.
